If you've ever uninstalled TikTok from your child's phone, you already know the outcome. They reinstall it. Or they install it on a friend's phone. Or they sign in via a browser. The cycle repeats.

Why TikTok is hard to control

TikTok was designed to be installed and used. Every part of the user experience — from the algorithm to the notifications — is built to maximize time spent in the app. From a parent's perspective, this means:

• Kids will resist any limit you try to enforce
• The app's own "screen time" features are largely advisory and easily bypassed
• Even if you uninstall, the app reinstalls in seconds
• You can't easily distinguish between "Stop using TikTok forever" and "Limit TikTok to one hour a day, then it's locked"
